East Griqualand incorporates the southern tip of the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park, a World Heritage Site.

The region features rolling foothills, primal wetlands and sparkling streams shielded on three sides by lofty mountain peaks. The wonders of East Griqualand are hidden in the south¬western corner of the Zulu Kingdom, in an area covering approximately 4 070 square km.

The summers of the region are warm and during winter snow frequently falls in the mountainous area.
