Ballito (little ball) was proclaimed a township in 1954 and attained district status in 1986. One of the Dolphin Coast’s premier tourist destinations, it is renowned for its outstanding beaches. Willard Beach attained the much sought-after “Blue Flag” status for the 2002/2003 season to signify that it met world standards in respect of facilities, environmental education, cleanliness, international safety standards (including lifeguard services) and water quality.
