Proclaimed in 1885, Bulwer was named for the Lieutenant-Governor of Natal at that time, Sir Henry Bulwer. It lies at the foot of Mahwega Mountain.

Hang-gliding and Paragliding: Mahweqa Mountain,( “the Frowning One”)is a good spot for gliders to learn and practise the skills necessary for this sport. Fully accredited courses are offered in the area and equipment is available for hire.

Holy Trinity Church: The unique Yellowwood Church is reputed to be the only church in the world built entirely from yellowwood. Services are held on the first Sunday of each month.
