Category Archives: Zululand

Zululand – a vast land of pristine lakes and coastlines, emerald forests and wild bush – a land of exquisite beauty and incredible diversity. Zululand incorporates the renowned World Heritage Site of the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, a number of game reserves boasting the “Big Five” and a bird population to tempt even the most experienced bird-watcher.

During the Anglo-Zulu War, the inhabitants of this region presented the mighty British Empire with one of the greatest challenges to its supremacy. The Zulu nation was ultimately defeated in battle, but never in spirit. Once a land of conflict, Zululand was shaped by the rich culture of the people who lived here. Their king, Shaka, aptly named it KwaZulu – the Place of the People of Heaven.
