Pennington

Named after Richard Pennington, an early resident who owned the estate on which the town was laid out, the town is not only the centre of a large sugar cane and dairy-farming district, but is also a popular tourist destination.

Nature Reserves: The area abounds with nature reserves, including Nkomba Bird Sanctuary, Nkumbane Dam, Elysium Wetland, Ifafa Lagoon Estuary and Mkamati Dam.

Vernon Crookes Nature Reserve: The Vernon Crookes Nature Reserve features the fine coastal forest and grasslands of the South Coast. Animals such as impala, blue wildebeest, zebra and eland roam the reserve.
