Salt Rock, the name of this relaxed little town originates from the days of King Shaka. His handmaidens used to gather dried salt here off the rocks at low tide. The salt was used for trading with passing settlers.

Beaches: The beaches are strewn with sunbathers and the tidal pool originally built for use by hotel guests give them a chance to cool off as well. Angling: The beaches have some wonderful angling spots. Salt Rock Country Club: The country club has tennis, bowls, squash and a swimming pool. Scuba-diving: Scuba divers come here to explore the reefs of the region.
