Also called “beautiful valley”, this town lies in the green Breede River Valley, cultivated with vineyards as well as peach and apricot orchards. Bonnievale is also the valley of cheese and wine and the habitat of a large variety of flora and fauna. The town is situated on the popular Tourist Route 62.

Cheese: Tours are conducted at Parmalat, a sweet-milk Gouda cheese factory, the largest cheese factory in South Africa.
Wine: Several wine estates, co-operatives and wine cellars are found in the area. The Robertson Wine Route incorporates all the cellars in Bonnievale, including one of the oldest cellars in the region, Nordale Wine Cellar.

Bird life: A large variety of beautiful species of birds can be found in the area, among them the Breede River goose.
